The consulting role

A defined engagement. Practical change. Stronger internal capability.

ICON comes in for a defined period, understands what is happening, identifies what needs to change, builds the solution with your people, helps implement it, measures progress and leaves the organization stronger and able to continue.

01

Time-bound

The scope, responsibilities, timing and intended outcomes are defined with the client.

02

Embedded

ICON stays close enough to leadership, coaches, teams and daily sport environments to understand what is real.

03

Practical

The work moves beyond recommendations into implementation, adjustment, measurement and handover.

What ICON works on

Quality from top to bottom.

The level of involvement depends on the organization and the problem. ICON can work across leadership, coaches, teams, athletes and the systems that connect them.

01

Clarify what the organization or program stands for and turn it into daily behavior.

  • Mission, purpose and values
  • Leadership standards and accountability
  • Culture, communication and alignment
  • Clear ownership of the athlete experience
02

Coaching Quality + Coach Development

Help coaches create demanding, developmental environments that support athletes and performance.

  • Communication and feedback
  • Task-oriented motivational climate
  • Confidence without lowering standards
  • Responses to mistakes, pressure and selection
  • Role clarity and athlete relationships
03

Team Culture + Cohesion

Help teams define how they want to operate together and make it visible in training and competition.

  • Team mission, values and standards
  • Roles and leadership
  • Cohesion, trust and communication

04

Athlete Development + Performance

Bring sport psychology into the environment rather than leaving it as an isolated workshop.

  • Confidence, focus and pressure readiness
  • Athlete voice and ownership
  • Routines, reflection and self-regulation
05

Girls' + Women's Sport Growth

Help organizations create and strengthen meaningful, sustainable opportunities for girls and women.

06

Systems + Implementation

Make sure the strategy reaches the field and can continue after the consulting engagement ends.

  • Practical roles, processes and standards
  • Program design and implementation support
  • Monitoring, feedback and adjustment
  • Measurement and handover

Girls' + women's sport

Build the opportunity. Review the system behind it.

The engagement

Not a report. A change process.

ICON stays close enough to the organization to understand what is real, build what is needed and help make the change stick.

Time-bound. Embedded. Practical. ICON is not a permanent management role. Ruwa works alongside leadership, technical coaches and staff for as long as the engagement requires, then transfers the systems, capability and ownership back to the organization.

When to bring ICON in

Start with the problem you want to solve.

The starting point can be one team, one program or a whole organization. The scope is defined around the problem and the change the client wants to see.

Example mandates

Organizations may bring ICON in when they need help to:

  • Build a girls' basketball, football or multi-sport program properly from the start
  • Strengthen an existing girls' or women's program that is not developing as intended
  • Review why athletes are leaving, disengaging or not progressing
  • Reset team or organizational culture and create clear standards
  • Develop coaches' communication, feedback and motivational environment
  • Build stronger team identity, cohesion, leadership and shared values
  • Review pathways, opportunities and the quality of the athlete experience
  • Turn an existing strategy into something that actually happens on the field
What success can look like

Success is defined with the client at the start. Depending on the engagement, progress may show up as:

  • Clearer organizational or team direction
  • More consistent coach behavior and communication
  • Stronger team culture, cohesion and athlete ownership
  • A better-quality athlete experience
  • Stronger participation, retention or progression
  • More meaningful opportunities for girls and women
  • Clearer pathways and development standards
  • Systems that staff can continue without ongoing consultant dependence
