ICON's flagship basketball program

The Present Possession.

A basketball-specific mental performance program that helps players and teams recognize what is happening, regulate their response and return attention to the next useful basketball action.

What it is

Mindfulness is the foundation, not the full curriculum.

Present-moment awareness helps players notice distraction, frustration, pressure and unhelpful patterns without becoming stuck in them. The program then develops the wider mental skills required in basketball.

The work is grounded in applied sport psychology and delivered through basketball language, situations and practice. It is performance education rather than therapy or clinical treatment.

The program structure

Five connected layers of basketball mental performance.

Each layer builds skills that players can practise, apply and review with the team and coaching staff.

01

Awareness

Recognize performance state through body language, focus, self-talk and emotional cues.

02

Motivation & progress

Use process goals, effective habits and visible progress to strengthen commitment and confidence.

03

Focus & reset

Train present-moment attention, emotional regulation and a repeatable response after mistakes.

04

Pressure execution

Use routines, imagery and applied pressure practice to make the skills usable when performance changes.

05

Team layer

Connect communication, standards, leadership and culture to the way the team performs together.

Ways to deliver it

One system. Different entry points.

The format is selected around the team's age, competitive level, season timing, coaching environment and priority needs.

01

Multi-week team program

A progressive curriculum with player tools, between-session practice and coach integration.

02

Focused workshops

Target one priority such as focus, mistakes, confidence, pressure response or team standards.

03

Camps and intensives

Combine education, discussion and basketball application inside a concentrated schedule.

04

Basketball Pressure Simulation

Test the skills inside realistic basketball pressure, communication and execution demands on court.

Who it is for

Built for basketball environments, not isolated athlete coaching.

Teams

Youth 14+, academy, university, club and senior basketball teams.

Academies

Cohorts that need a repeatable mental performance pathway across development stages.

Coaching staff

Shared language and tools that help the work continue in daily practice.
